Hi Keri, thanks for taking the time to ask the question. Alex is a bit of a science nerd and I think Alex has a (mistaken) belief that a person’s chosen profession reflects their pursuit of academic things. He doesn’t think that being a teacher is less successful but had perhaps thought that teachers were less likely to want to discuss scientific papers with him. It is important to note that this is one person’s misconception and should not be considered right or correct. Your comment did make me realize that I could’ve written it better.
